Howard Johnson and the Red Lions is a musical parody of the American lounge lizard culture. Complete with cheesy suits, sequin gowns, and all the other cliches we love to hate, the show is delivered with an interactive self-deprecating sense of humor by world class musicians performing an array of hits from five decades.
The nucleus of the band consists of members of the Portland-based R&B group "Shock" who were inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2007. These veterans have also played with numerous other noteworthy Pacific Northwest artists over the years, including smooth jazz icon Kenny G,
The Crazy 8s, and Soul Vaccination to name drop a few.
So the next time you feel like letting off some steam, come on down and heckle the band. However, be forewarned. Because you might just end up in a conga line or with a lamp shade on top of your head!
